NEWTON, MA — Firefighters are working to put out a fire on Cabot Street in Newton.

A report of a fire in a bedroom came in at 7:08 p.m. By 7:30 p.m. the heavy fire was put out and crews were looking to make sure there were no hot spots and that the fire did not spread.

Officials requested Red Cross to come out to the home.

It's unclear if anyone was injured or what caused the fire.

The Cape Cod style home built in 1946 was last accessed by the town at $536,200.
