Five Things You Need to Know Today: April 2
A blood drive, the Riverside Station discussion continues and School Committee takes a straw vote on the fiscal 2014 budget.

1. School Committee straw vote. The Newton School Committee is scheduled to continue discussion and take a straw vote tonight on the superintendent's fiscal 2014 $187.7 million budget. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Education Center.
2. Blood drive. The West Suburban YMCA will hold a Red Cross blood drive today from 1 p.m. - 7 p.m.

4. Continued Riverside discussion. The Board of Aldermen's Land Use Committee is scheduled tonight to continue its discussion on the proposed Riverside Station development on Grove Street. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in room 222 at City Hall.
5. Farmers' market. The Newton Indoor Farmers' Market will set up this afternoon at the Hyde Community Center from 1:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.
