Member appreciation week at the YMCA, info on an internship and yes, more playoff news.

1. Member appreciation week. Today is the last day of the West Suburban YMCA's Member Appreciation Week -- members can check out fun activities, events and giveaways.
2. Farm internships. The Newton Community Farm is looking for high school interns for the summer.
3. Latest Playoff news. The Newton North boys' basketball team defeated Madison Park last night, 52-24, and will go on to face Taunton on Saturday at Newton North at 4 p.m. Unfortunately, the Newton South boys' lost a first round game to Mansfield last night, 72-56, to end their season. As for tonight's games, the Newton South girls' basketball team will face Durfee in a quarterfinal match at Durfee (Fall River) at 7 p.m.

4. Interested in becoming a Newton Police officer? The deadline to apply or a 2013 police officer examination (administered by the state) is March 18. Applications are available at Newton City Hall, any city/town clerk's office or online. Check out the Mass HRD website for more information.
5. Cultural festivals kick off tomorrow. The Newton Heritage Festivals kick off tomorrow with a French celebration at the Newton Cultural Center. The event runs from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and will include music, food, activities and more.
