Five Things You Need to Know Today: March 19
A farmers' market, an update on last night's aldermen meeting and....more snow.

1. Yes, more snow. The Newton area is expected to get up to 8 inches of snow by the time the storm winds down later this morning/early afternoon. The Newton Public Schools are closed Tuesday in addition to a number of other schools and colleges in the city. A snow emergency and parking ban is in effect. Trash/recycling pickup is on schedule. Stay tuned to Newton Patch for more updates on school closures and cancellations.
2. Special election June 25. The Newton Board of Aldermen last night approved June 25, 2013 as the date for a special election for the Ward 1 alderman-at-large seat. This election will run in conjunction with the special Senate election to fill former Sen. John Kerry's seat. Stay tuned to Patch for details from last night's meeting.

3. Indoor farmers' market. The Newton Indoor Farmers' Market will open at the Hyde Community Center today from 1:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.
4. Bike/Pedestrian Task Force. The Newton Bike/Pedestrian Task Force will meet tonight at 7:45 p.m. in the cafeteria at City Hall (basement level).
