Five Things You Need to Know Today: March 5

Job seeker series at the library, indoor farmers' market and a Riverside Station project meeting.

1. Riverside Station project meeting. The Board of Aldermen's Land Use Committee will hold a working session tonight to discuss the traffic and parking around the proposed mixed-use development at Riverside Station on Grove Street. Tonight's meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in room 222 at City Hall. 

2. Playoff games. The No. 17 Newton South girls' basketball team will face No. 4 Franklin in the South Div. 1 semifinals on tonight at 6 p.m. at Massasoit-Brockton. The No. 2 Newton North boys' basketball team will face North Quincy in a semifinal match on tonight at 5 p.m. at UMass Boston.

3. Lt. Gov. at Newton North. Lt. Governor Tim Murray will visit Newton North High School this morning to highlight science, technology, engineering and tech-ed programs. Stay tuned to Patch for coverage!

4. Job Seekers and Career Development Series. The Newton Free Library will host three local experts tonight who will give their advice to job seekers who are concerned about their age and being overqualified for the current marketplace. The program, which starts at 7 p.m., is part of the Job Seekers, Career and Professional Development Series.

5. Indoor farmers' market. The Newton Indoor Farmers' Market will be open today from 1:30 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the Hyde Community Center at Newton Highlands.
