Five Things You Need to Know Today: Oct. 31
Happy Halloween! Please be careful if you plan to walk out on the streets tonight for trick-or-treating.

1. Be safe tonight. Halloween trick-or-treating in Newton is still on for those who want to venture out this evening. Mayor Warren and the Newton Police are urging residents to take extreme caution while out and about tonight, as streets are still covered in tree limbs and downed wires.
2. Power still out for many. NSTAR crews will no doubt be back on the Newton streets today working to restore power to thousands of Newton homes. We'll continue to update our Hurricane Information Center as often as we can. You can also add your neighborhood to the comments section of this power outage story. Remember, you can head to the Newton Free Library to charge phones or use the internet and check with local gyms to see if you can use their shower facilities.
