For Pete's Sake 5K Draws Dozens of Participants

The June 2 race brought runners from throughout the area to the course.

Runners from Newton, Needham, Wellesley and beyond came together on Saturday, June 2 for the eighth annual For Pete's Sake (and More) 5K run/walk coordinated by Dunn Gaherin's.

Newton's highest overall finisher among the 79 participants was Gregory Best, who crossed the finish line in 23:37 for a 14th place finish.

Newton's highest female finisher was 15-year-old Marissa Best with a time of 26:08, good enough for a 23rd place finish overall.

The top finishers for both men and women hailed from Needham and the top overall finisher for the race was Georgia Meyer. She clocked a 19:41 finish.

According to a post on the Dunn Gaherin's page on Facebook, this year's event was "such a success."

Proceeds from the race support the A. Pete Leary Scholarship Fund for a Needham graduating senior. As well as a foundation that helps Newton, Needham and Wellesley high school athletes who are unable to afford to play sports.
