Gov. Healey In Newton To Announce Phillip Eng As MBTA General Manager
Governor Healey will hold a news conference at 2:30 p.m., March 27, outside of Riverside Station in Newton to announce Eng's appointment.

NEWTON, MA – Governor Maura Healey will stop in Newton today to hold a news conference meeting outside the Riverside Station to announce Phillip Eng as the next general manager of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA).
Healey will be joined by Lieutenant Governor Driscoll, Transportation Secretary Gina Fiandaca, and Phillip Eng outside of the Green Line Riverside Station located at 367 Grove Street in Newton at 2:30 p.m.
From the Newton T stop, Eng and Secretary Fiandaca will then take the Green Line to Park Street Station to greet riders and walk over to the MBTA Operations Control Center at 45 High Street to meet with workers and review operations at the facility.

Healey announced today in a news release that she, along with Driscoll and Fiandaca, will appoint Phillip Eng as the next general manager of the MBTA.
Eng is an engineer with nearly 40 years of experience in transportation, and has served as president of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) Long Island Rail Road and interim president of New York City transit.

“Phil Eng is the proven leader the MBTA needs to improve safety and reliability across the system and restore the public’s trust,” Governor Healey said in the news release.
Interim General Manager Jeff Gonneville will remain with the MBTA and assist with the transition until Eng begins his new role on April 10.
