Hello, Newton. I'm Pleased to Be Your New Editor

This is it. My first week as the new editor of Newton Patch.

A new day dawns for Newton Patch. Not a better day ... I'll do my best to ensure it's not a worse day ... just a new day.

As many of you read, longtime Newton Patch editor Melanie Graham handed in her Patch credentials last Friday (we wish her the best) and I, Brooklyn Lowery, have accepted the adventure and challenge of picking up where she left off.

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and, I hope, assuage any trepidation you may be feeling about this transition given all the great work Melanie did over the past few years.

For starters, my own Patch credentials are of the veteran variety. I am the one and only editor Wayland Patch has ever had, having launched that site on Dec. 30, 2010.

I'm under no illusion that Newton is Wayland (I live in Aubundale, after all, so I know a bit about life in Newton). But I can assure you that I understand what Patch brings to a community -- how it connects neighbors to needed resources, businesses to curious customers and taxpayers with local officials.

You will likely see some changes in the site -- not because I don't like the way Melanie did things, but because we're different editors. And also because I am taking on responsibility for Newton Patch while maintaining my role with Wayland Patch.

Melanie forged the path for Newton Patch, and I'm ever so grateful for the work and years she put in to making the site such a valuable resource for you, the users.

I'm also honored and excited to be following in her footsteps. Already I've met several of Malenie's contacts in the city, had emails and phone calls from others, and have lined up introductory meetings with still others among you.

The new adventure is beginning and I look forward to all it has to offer. Reach out to me with your thoughts and questions. Remember to keep uploading your events and announcements and blogs posts to the site. And definitely say hello and introduce youself when you see me out and about in Newton.
