How Newton Voted In The 2022 MA Primary Election
According to Mayor Ruthanne Fuller, 27 percent, or 15,884, of the City's 59,672 registered voters cast ballots in the Sept. 6 election.

NEWTON, MA — The City of Newton has released its unofficial election results for contested races in Tuesday’s primary election.
According to Mayor Ruthanne Fuller, 27 percent, or 15,884, of the city’s 59,672 registered voters cast ballots in the Sept. 6 election.
In the last state primary in 2020, which included contested races U.S. Senate and Congress, 50 percent of the City’s 61,354 registered voters cast ballots.

Newton’s unofficial results include all mail-in ballots, early voting ballots and all votes cast in person on Tuesday. Newton Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee (UOCAVA) ballots and provisional ballots will be counted by hand and added to the official tally, which will be certified by the Election Commission on Friday or Saturday.
"My deep appreciation to City Clerk Carol Moore, our election, IT and police staff, poll workers and volunteers who worked not just today but over the course of the past two months,” Fuller said in a statement. "They did an incredible amount of important work. They are getting ready to do it all again for the Nov. 8 general election."
