Local Businesses Participate In 'Take A Seat' Design Exhibition And Auction

'Take a Seat' is an annual Design Exhibition & Charity Auction hosted by the New England Chapter of International Furnishings and Design.

From IFDA: Four Local Businesses participated in the New England Chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Association’s (IFDA-NE) annual “Take a Seat” Design Exhibition and Charity Auction.

‘Take a Seat’ features up-cycled, one of a kind chairs designed by local architects, builders, craftsmen and students of the furnishing and design industry. It aims to provide them with a platform to display their inventive and resourceful prowess, promote their craft, all while giving back to the community.

Lee Webster, owner of Mina Fife Antique Store in Newton Upper Falls, created a chair, entitled The Golden Ticket Gout Stool an antique stool, often used in the 18th and 19th centuries to relieve gout pain, which she revived to reflect “the current state of American politics.” Linda Weisberg of LW Interiors in Newton, brought a run-down, 17th century Italian fruit wood chair back to life with new upholstery and named it Going for Baroque. Ana Bonilla of AnaVera Design in Newton, used her childhood in Peru as inspiration for De Colores, a brightly colored chair featuring limes, a staple in Peruvian cuisine. The Yes Chair was created by Newton-based designer Kelly Rogers of Kelly Rogers Interiors. Its fun fabrics and tassle detail make it perfect for kids and adults
