New Newton Plaza Connects Community With All It Has To Offer
The outdoor space opened earlier this summer.

NEWTON, MA — The Newton Centre Pilot Plaza has had a successful summer season.
In the winter, Mayor Ruthanne Fuller announced that a portion of Langley Place’s Parking Lot would be used to create a temporary space. The fully-furnished plaza on the corner of Centre Street and Beacon Street launched earlier this summer with features such as nighttime lighting, lawn and board games, and community artwork.
The city’s Planning Department is currently working with marketing firm All Over Newton to create an online community resource page that easily shows the 36 restaurants, 25 retail stores, and 29 salons and spas that are reportedly within walking distance of the outdoor plaza.

“Now we can meet at the plaza, pick out a table, snap the QR code, peruse the many
restaurants in Newton Centre, decide what we’re in the mood for, and place orders for take-out,” All Over Newton Founder Laura Berman said.
