Newton Christmas Tree Collection Begins Soon
Curbside Christmas tree collection will run for two weeks beginning in January.

NEWTON, MA — Newton community members have a handful of options to get rid of their 2022 Christmas trees over the coming weeks as the Christmas season ends and the new year arrives.
City curbside Christmas tree collection will kick off on Jan. 3 to continue through Jan. 13. Residents looking to utilize Newton’s curbside collection option should place their undecorated tree on their curb by 7 a.m. on their regular waste pickup day. Trees cannot be placed in a plastic bag.
Newton officials note on the city’s website that they “highly encourage” residents to utilize January Christmas tree pickup services.

Those who can’t make the Jan. 3 to Jan. 13 window, though, can request pickup at a later date by using Newton's 311 program or by calling city customer service at 617-796-1000.
Residents can alternatively hang on to their tree until city yard waste pickup resumes in April, at which point residents will need to prepare their tree for pickup in accordance with yard waste guidelines.
