Newton Man Allegedly Stabs Another Man When Denied Entry to Bar
Police caught the man after he tried to escape in a taxi.

A 38-year-old Newton man who could not get into a Boston bar began punching and then stabbing another man early Sunday morning.
At about 12:35 a.m. Sunday, Peter J. Damelio and a friend tried to cut the line to Coogan's bar twice and became enraged when he could not get into the bar. Damelio allegedly punched one man in the face repeatedly, and then stabbed another one in the torso, according the Boston Police Department. The victim was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with serious injuries, police said.
After the incident, Damelio jumped in a taxi and tried to escape, but police sent out a description of the man. A cab was stopped in Charlestown with a man fitting the suspects description in the back. A knife was found on the floor of the taxi, Boston Police said.
Damalio will be charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon - a knife - and is expected to be arraigned in Boston District Court Monday.
