UPDATED: Newton Man Charged with Attempted Murder

A Newton man was arrested last night after he allegedly stabbed another Newton man multiple times, police said. 

William Martin, 19, of 36 Deforest Road, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, according to Newton Police Lt. Bruce Apotheker.

Newton Police responded to Deforest Road around 7:45 p.m. on April 23 for reports of a stabbing. When police arrived on scene, they found a 23-year-old male had been stabbed multiple times, Apotheker said.

The victim was transported to Beth Israel Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Apotheker said. 

Martin is scheduled to be arraigned today in Newton District Court.
