Newton Native Killed in Weekend Bicycling Crash Near Amherst College

The 2009 Newton North High School graduate was a student at Hampshire College.

A sculpting major and Newton native died Sunday from injuries sustained when a truck struck him as he bicycled near the Amherst College campus that afternoon.

According to MassLive.com, Livingston "Liv" Pangburn, 22, was bicycling east on College Street (Route 9) when a truck turned near the corner of Dickinson and College streets, striking him.

The truck's driver was uninjured and remained at the scene, according to WCVB, The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.

According to MassLive.com, Pangburn was a 2009 graduate of Newton North High School and was most recently a resident of Granby, where he lived with his partner Michaela Schwartz. He planned to graduate in May 2014 from Hampshire College.

Schwartz told MassLive.com that Pangburn had a "contagious smile" and loved to be outdoors, enjoy good coffee and draw.

"His heart was full and giving, and he brought joy to the lives of all of the people that loved him," Schwartz continued.

Pangburn published a number of YouTube videos of himself playing guitar and singing. One of those videos is attached with this article.

Services for Pangburn, whose birth name was Olivia, have not yet been announced.
