Newton North Special Needs Student Sinks Three-Point Shot in Senior Night Game

Newton North's Ryan Gallagher had a big night Thursday.

The new Newton North Reggie Gym has seen a lot of big moments in the two and a half years its been open, but Thursday night was definitely one of the most memorable so far.

In his first and last varsity basketball game, senior Ryan Gallagher, a special needs student, sunk a three-point shot in the Tigers' game against Norwood, according to a report on WHDH.

Gallagher, 17, has been the Tigers' basketball team manager for four years. But during Thursday's Senior Night game, Coach Paul Connolly decided to let Gallagher have some time to shine on the court, WHDH reported.

“I could feel the whole entire building shaking…I mean, under me, the floor was just rumbling,” Gallagher told WHDH. “It was the best feeling in my life. My only varsity game, and it’s senior night and I just banked the first shot as I got in.”
