Newton Offers 'You Are The Help' Emergency Training
The training will help residents better respond to emergency situations and hopefully save a life.
NEWTON, MA — The City of Newton is offering a two-part program to teach residents about the skills necessary to help people during emergency situations.
The program, dubbed "You Are the Help," will be at the Newton Emergency Operation center at Fire Headquarters at 1164 Centre St.
There will be two sessions, each with different focuses:

- Session 1: Tuesday, Jan. 21
- Session 2: Tuesday, Jan. 28
Both sessions will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

There's no certification, but the skills taught will cover a wide variety of topics:
- Call 9-1-1: what to expect
- How to keep yourself safe
- Position and provide comfort to the injured
- How to stop a bleeding emergency: Learn and practice the skills!
Session 2 will help residents prepare at home. This session will cover:
- Prepare at home: Build an emergency kit, stay informed, and make a plan
- Fire extinguisher basics: Learn and practice the skills!
- What is Narcan and how to use it
- Family and Friends CPR: Learn and practice the skills
