Newton Police Department Addresses OUI Arrest Mix-Up

NEWTON, MA — The Newton Police Department has addressed an OUI mix-up that caused a lot of concern among residents last week.

Police said the incident under scrutiny actually happened in a different Newton.

"We recently have had numerous calls placed to our Dispatch Center and messages left on our social media pertaining to an incident that took place in Newton, Iowa,” the department said in a statement.

The incident in question involved a minor who was arrested for an OUI even though he blew a 0.0. on a breathalyzer, according to Boston 25 News.

" We kindly remind everyone that the incident being referenced does not involve the City of Newton, Massachusetts or our Police Department,” the department continued. "Thank you!"
