Newton Resident Gaining Support In School Committee Campaign
Alicia Piedalue announced she is running for the open seat in Ward 7.

NEWTON, MA — Resident Alicia Piedalue announced that she is running for the open Ward 7 School Committee seat.
The position became open earlier this year when Amy Davenport stepped down because she was moving out of the city. Piedalue is a mother of four children within the district, and works in the field of organizational health and talent management.
Piedalue’s priorities if elected include placing an emphasis on data-driven decision making, increased transparency between district teachers and students’ families, and providing resources for students of all abilities.

“I have four very diverse learners under my own roof - including a child with multiple disabilities, and I believe that public education can and must ensure every child thrives,” Piedalue said.
According to her campaign’s website, Piedalue has garnered support from many of her peers, such as district teacher and parent Caitlin Cusick.
“Having known Alicia (Piedalue) both personally and professionally, I’ve consistently been impressed by her dedication to public education,” Cusick said. “In our conversations, her extensive knowledge and experience shine through, driving her passion for making public education the best possible option for all learners.”
