Newton Resident Sworn In As An Assistant District Attorney

NEWTON, MA – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan swore in of the 2020 class of assistant district attorneys, and it included a Newton resident.

Danica Apotheker, the daughter of a lieutenant in the Newton Police Department, was sworn in with nine others on Jan. 15. The ceremony was held online because of the pandemic.

Apotheker has worked as an intern with the district attorney for three summers, beginning in 2016 and then served in the Somerville district court as a student practitioner for almost a year in 2019 to 2020.

She earned her bachelors in legal studies at University of Massachusetts, Amherst and then graduated last year with a law degree from Suffolk University.

"This is all she's ever wanted to do since high school," said her father Lt. Bruce Apotheker. "I'm extremely proud of her and all her accomplishments, and I'm proud that she's associated with District Attorney Ryan in what I believe is the best district attorney's office in the state."
