NEWTON, MA — The West Suburban YMCA, which plans to open a second full-service Y facility at 135 Wells Avenue on the south side of Newton this fall, is offering an opportunity for individuals to become a “Founding Member” at the new branch.

In recognition of a one-time $1,000 fee, Founding Members will receive a dedicated locker at the 135 Wells Ave. location for as long as their West Suburban YMCA membership is maintained. They will also receive an exclusive “Founding Member” gym bag.

This is a limited opportunity available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

“We are making great progress on our renovation project at the Wells Avenue location, and we hope the community will take advantage of this Founding Member opportunity or make a donation of any size to support our capital campaign,” Jack Fucci, President and CEO of theWest Suburban YMCA, said in a statement.

The West Suburban YMCA acquired the Wells Avenue building with support from an extremely generous $3 million donation, the largest in its history, from a Newton family. MassDevelopment provided a tax-exempt bond for the property purchase, which was financed by Dedham Savings Bank.
