Newton Senior Center Moving To Temporary Locations
The city plans to close most of the programs at the current Senior Center on Thursday Nov. 10 to begin the construction of a new facility.

NEWTON, MA — The Newton Senior Center will temporarily move to a new location later this fall to allow construction of the new facility to begin, Mayor Ruthanne Fuller said Wednesday.
Starting in November, small and medium sized programs will be held at the Brigham House, located at 20 Hartford Street, and larger programs will be held at the Hyde Community Center gym at 90 Lincoln Street.
The city will also be using a few other spaces for Senior Center activities, including the War Memorial at City Hall, the Newton Free Library and Park, and Recreation and Culture facilities.

"We have been hard at work planning for an interim site for the senior center programs and services to move to during construction,” Fuller said. "Newton Highlands will be our primary temporary home during construction of our new senior center.”
The Newton City Council voted on August 8 to approve $19.5 million in funding toward the constriction of a new Center for Active Living (NewCAL) to replace the current Senior Center at 345 Walnut Street in Newtonville.
