Newton Teacher Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

A Newton teacher faces charges of having and disseminating child pornography.

Steven Chan, 57, of Newton, will be arraigned in Newton District Court this morning on two charges of possession of child pornography and one count of disseminating child pornography, said Stephanie Guyotte, spokeswoman for the Middlesex District Attorney's Office.

Chan was arrested by Newton Police and the Massachusetts State Police, Guyotte said.

Newton school officials said they will comment later Friday about the incident. A Steve Chan is listed on the staff list at F.A. Day Middle School. He also coached the Newton North boys gymnastics team, according to this article from Fox 25.
