Police Log: Public Urination, Firearm Violation and Cosmetic Theft

The following arrest information was supplied by the Newton Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Public Urination
On June 25, Newton Police responded to the municipal lot on Pearl Street at about 6 p.m. 

According to police reports, officers found a "visibly shaken" woman. She told police she was sitting in her vehicle when she witnessed a man whom she identified exit his vehicle, walk behind it and urinate. She said the man finished urinating and looked in her direction as he got back in his vehicle. 

Police located the man in the parking lot of Bertucci's, according to police reports. He admitted to having urinated behind his vehicle. Police reports indicate they will seek a hearing for a charge of disorderly conduct against the 60-year-old man.

Cosmetic Heist
Newton Police responded to the CVS on 189 Watertown St. on June 25 for a report of past shoplifting. According to reports an employee saw a person described as a 25-year-old white male wearing a blue ball cap, brown T-shirt and beige shorts to be pushing a red and black stroller in the cosmetics section.

Reports say the employee watched him place "numerous things" in a gray Thermos cooler and then walk toward the door. When she asked him whether he intended to pay for the items, he replied "No," dropped the Thermos and left in the direction of Stop & Shop.

According to police reports, the employee was reviewing surveillance tapes when she received a phone call from a driver who said a black and red stroller full of cosmetics was sitting in front of Stop & Shop with no one around. The report indicates that $1,200 to $1,500 worth of cosmetics were recovered.

Firearm Violation
Newton Police arrested 57-year-old Clarence Bamberger, of Newton, on June 26.

According to police reports, Bamberger came into Newton Police Headquarters and turned himself in on a probation violation warrant for unlawful possession of a firearm.
