Rep. Jim Arciero Endorses Mara Dolan For Governor’s Council

Dolan is challenging incumbent Marilyn Petito Devaney in the Democratic primary, which will take place on September 6.

NEWTON, MA — On Monday, Today State Rep. Jim Arciero endorsed public defender Mara Dolan for Governor’s Council, District 3.

Arciero represents the 2nd Middlesex District, which includes Chelmsford, Littleton, and Westford.

The Governor's Council is made up of eight elected Councilors who vet and vote on judicial nominations, commutations and pardons, and members of the Parole Board. Dolan seeks the Democratic nomination for District 3, which includes parts of Boston, all of Arlington, Brookline, Newton, Waltham, and her hometown of Concord among its 32 cities and towns.

“I am proud to give my strongest endorsement and support to my friend, Mara Dolan, for the Massachusetts Governor’s Council,” Arciero said in a statement. “Mara has years of experience as an attorney and public defender working in the Massachusetts court system across our commonwealth. She knows the judicial branch and the importance of selecting the right judges for our state in order to provide for fairness, equity, and justice for all of our citizens.”

"Mara has the character, experience, and knowledge to be a great member of the Governor’s Council and will bring a new and refreshing perspective to this important position,” he continued. "Please join me in supporting and voting for Mara Dolan for Governor’s Council on Tuesday, September 6!”

“Rep. Arcieo’s endorsement means a great deal to me,” Dolan said. “He has worked hard to help increase access to mental health care for veterans and students. Many of the folks who need those services wind up in our court system. Rep. Arciero’s work is making an enormous difference in people’s lives and in our communities. I am very honored to have the endorsement of Rep. Arciero and know how much it will mean to voters in Chelmsford, Littleton, and Westford.”
