Police said the coyote appears to have mange and a wound.
NEWTON, MA — A sick coyote has been spotted wandering around Auburndale and West Newton, said the Newton Police Department Tuesday.
Police said the coyote appears to have mange and a wound. Animal control officers have canvassed the area, but have been unable to isolate the animal because it is still very mobile.
"We have reached out to Massachusetts Environmental Police and Massachusetts Wild Life and Fisheries who have advised to please leave the coyote alone,” Newton police said. "Please stay vigilant and keep pets on leash and do not leave pets and children unattended.”
