NEWTON, MA — U.S. Rep. Jake Auchincloss (D, MA) visited some of his district’s communities to celebrate and honor local veterans with his constituents this Veterans Day.

The Newton native first attended a ceremony at Foxborough High School, then stopped in Swansea to partake in the town’s event on the Veterans Memorial Green. As a Marine Veteran himself, Auchincloss said he takes special pride in honoring his peers.

“Today, we are grateful to our veterans, not just for their courage in combat but also for their honor in peace,” Auchincloss said in a press release. “As I nominate the next generation of officers to the service academies, I am impressed and gratified by their proficiency and patriotism. When I speak to these young men and women, I tell them to draw inspiration and take example from the veterans we honor today, who fought fiercely for freedom and never forgot their loyalty to the Constitution and to this republic of laws.”
