Wrong-Way Driver Causes Fiery Crash On Mass Pike In Newton

NEWTON, MA — State police say a wrong-way driver will face charges after crashing into a truck on the Mass Pike on the Newton-Weston line early Saturday morning, reported WCVB.

The crash took place on the eastbound side of the highway around 2:15 a.m. Police said the truck burst into flames and only the metal frame remained once the fire was put out.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area during cleanup. The left two lanes on both the eastbound and westbound sides of I-90 remained closed through Saturday morning.

The driver suffered minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation and no further information has been released.
