12 New Charges For Man Held In Amesbury Teen's Death
Carlos Rivera, 47, of Lawrence, is now facing 19 charges stemming from the May death of 13-year-old Chloe Ricard.
LAWRENCE, MA — An Essex County Grand Jury returned additional indictments against the Lawrence man being held in connection to the May death of a 13-year-old Amesbury girl. The new charges against Carlos Rivera, 47, of Lawrence, include involuntary manslaughter, additional rape charges and human trafficking. Prosecutors say Riverra dropped off Chloe Ricard at Lawrence Hospital on May 20, where she was later pronounced dead.
The new indictments include crimes committed between late 2013 and May of this year and involve three adult women and seven girls under the age of 18, including the two victims from the original indictments. Rivera was scheduled to be arraigned on the new charges on Friday in Salem Superior Court.
Following Thursday's indictment, Riverra is facing charges of involuntary manslaughter, 4 counts of aggravated rape of child, rape, and6 counts of human trafficking. The original charges that were re-indicted include aggravated rape of a child, 2 counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or over, 2 counts of distribution of Class B drug to a minor, and distribution Class A.

Riverra has been held without bail since he was arrested on May 25. Prosecutors say Ricard and a 16-year-old girl were at Rivera's apartment in Lawrence during the evening of Sunday, May 19 and for much of the next day, Monday, May 2o. Ricard was dropped off at the emergency room at 4:47 p.m. on May 20, less than an hour after her mother reported her missing.
