Former North Andover High Pitcher Sebastian Keane Drafted By Yankees
The righty just completed his redshirt sophomore season at Northeastern and was selected in the 18th round (550th overall) by New York.

BOSTON, MA —North Andover High School grad Sebastian Keane, who plays collegiately at Northeastern, was selected Tuesday by the New York Yankees in the 18th round (550th overall) of the Major League Baseball Draft.
Keane, a 6-foot-3, 187-pound right-handed pitcher, went 5-5 with a 5.99 ERA in 14 starts this past spring for the Huskies, who finished 31-29-1. In 2021, Keane went 6-1 with a 4.09 ERA in 12 starts.
In his profile on the Northeastern Baseball website, Keane listed the New York Yankees as his favorite MLB team. The Yankees also drafted Keane's college teammate, Cam Schlitter, in the seventh round (220th overall) of this year's draft.

After a standout career at North Andover High, Keane was selected by the Red Sox in the 11th round (347th overall) in the 2019 MLB Draft. But Keane chose to honor his commitment to Northeastern.
In high school, Keane was a four-year varsity player and two-year captain for the Scarlet Knights. He had a career record of 21-5 with an 0.66 ERA, and he hit .330 with 48 RBIs during his career. Keane also played second base.

In 2019, Keane was chosen as the Gatorade Massachusetts Player of the Year. A member of the Swedish National Baseball Team, Keane played in the European Baseball Championship tournaments in 2013 and 2016.
