North Andover Firefighter Completes Rigorous Firefighting Academy
North Andover firefighter, Samuel Bird, successfully finished his 10-week training, according to the fire department.
NORTH ANDOVER, MA — A North Andover firefighter successfully completed training from the state fire academy in order to soon respond to all types of hazards and emergencies.
FFOP (Firefighter on Probation) Samuel Bird graduated from the Massachusetts Fire Academy Career Recruit Program on Friday morning as part of Class 293, the North Andover Fire Department announced via Twitter.
The 10-week program for municipal firefighters involves classroom instruction, physical fitness training, skills training and live firefighting practice.

“This rigorous professional training provides our newest firefighters with the basic skills to perform their jobs effectively and safely,” said State Fire Marshal Ostroskey in a news release.
The Massachusetts Firefighting Academy (MFA), a division of the Department of Fire Services, offers this program tuition-free.
