North Andover Seeking Assistant Library Director

Assistant director to work with the library staff in providing quality services to a supportive community of more than 27,000.

The Stevens Memorial Library in North Andover is seeking a creative and dynamic public service-oriented individual as the Assistant Director to work with the Director and staff in providing quality services to a supportive community of more than 27,000 with an annual circulation of over 200,000.

Duties/Description:

The Assistant Director works with the Director in planning, implementing, and managing library services, programs, collections, personnel, and funding. The successful candidate is expected to help foster team-work, promote excellence in customer service, and develop programs, services and collections that meet and exceed the needs of the community. The Assistant Director participates on the Library’s Collection Development Team and on other library network and regional committees.

Qualifications:

Position requires a Masters in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution; certification as a professional librarian by the MBLC; three to five years of professional library experience with at least two years of supervisory and administrative experience; extensive knowledge of automated systems, and of current and emerging trends in technology. Applicant has a proven record of effective management, communication, and organizational skills.

Compensation:

Salary Grade hiring range is E-12 (non-union), $49,058 - $53,964 depending upon qualifications, with benefits under the terms of the Town of North Andover Personnel Policy.
