NORTH ANDOVER, MA — Selectman Phil DeCologero will not run for a third term in the spring North Andover town election, he confirmed Monday.

DeCologero has been on the Board of Selectmen for six years, first getting elected in 2015. He said he does not expect to have enough time to continue devoting himself to the Board.

"My own life has changed in such a way that I can’t see myself giving the time to this role over the next three years as I once did," DeCologero said. "Family and work must come first. Fortunately, we have no shortage of women and men in town who have the passion and drive to give back."

Nomination papers for the 2021 town election are already available; they must be returned by Feb. 9, 2021. The annual town election is scheduled for March 30. Selectman Richard Vallaincourt's seat is also up for re-election.

"I’ve been lucky to have earned the vote of support from my neighbors and be elected twice to this Board of Selectmen," DeCologero said. "It’s been six years full of exciting accomplishments, but also it’s share of challenges. I’m proud of what we’ve been able to get done as a town - especially as we navigated the 2018 Columbia Gas disaster and this current pandemic."
