Helping Hands thanks community for holiday support

NHHA's Holiday Outreach Program is not possible without the many people who lend a helping hand.

Northborough Helping Hands Association, Inc., (NHHA) held its Annual Holiday Outreach the weekend before Thanksgiving. Each year the NHHA Outreach Committee has the privilege of working with individuals, community groups, and churches throughout the area.

In addition to providing a complete Thanksgiving meal, grocery cards are available for all participants and retail store gift cards are provided to parents for their children’s holiday wishes.

“It really takes a village,” said event co-chair Marcia Roman. “We are grateful for our many returning sponsors but are excited to have new groups step in to lend a hand.”

Thanks to the Recreation Department, distribution was able to be held at the Northborough Town Hall gym this season allowing NHHA to serve 124 Northborough households.

NHHA members and coat drive organizers Pam Hodge and Erica Zeiger coordinated donations of 110 new children coats.

“We had an action-packed day receiving food and filling the bags provided by Central One Credit Union in the morning. A team of volunteers helped our recipients collect their gifts, food and turkey. It was an amazing day, full of smiles, good wishes and sincere gratitude all around,” said event co-chair Colleen Lupien.

Senior Citizen gifts sponsored by the Northborough Patrolman’s Association were coordinated by NHHA member Diane Savarese. Red bags full of personal care items and a red poinsettia were given to 61 seniors.

“You are a gift to our community,” said Lupien. “Thank you for Making Spirits Bright!”
