• MA Firefighter Accused Of Shooting At Father, Assaulting Girlfriend: Report (patch.com) — Northborough residents are learning that local firefighter Christopher Goodney has been placed on paid leave after his December arrest, with town officials stressing the incident happened while he was off duty. Reports say he faces several serious charges following alleged violent incidents involving his father and girlfriend, and an investigation is underway. 
• Northborough MA Free Library annual book sale set for Jan. 30-31 (metrowestdailynews.com) — Northborough readers can stock up on low-cost books and media at the Northborough Free Library’s Super Book Sale on Jan. 30–31, with proceeds supporting local programs and museum passes. The library is also accepting donations now and needs a few volunteers for cleanup, plus it’s already planning an even bigger sale with a bag day in March.
• Is Wegmans Collecting Biometric Data On MA Shoppers? What To Know About Controversial Policy (patch.com) — Northborough shoppers who frequent Wegmans should know the chain is expanding facial-recognition security at select stores, raising fresh questions about how biometric data is collected and used. While Wegmans hasn’t said which locations are scanning faces, the company lists Northborough among its five Massachusetts stores, and new state privacy rules now limit how sensitive biometric data can be gathered and stored.
