Bridge Connecting Saugus And Lynn Closed Indefinitely For Repairs
The bridge is part of Route 107 and goes over the Saugus River.
SAUGUS, MA — The Route 107 bridge that connects Saugus and Lynn over the Saugus River was closed indefinitely Wednesday, according to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
The shutdown was carried out to allow for repairs to the structure after a crack in one of the bridge’s metal plates was discovered. The drawbridge will remain functional to allow marine traffic to continue to pass through, and sidewalks will still be usable for pedestrians and cyclists. According to the Town of Saugus, northbound traffic will be detoured at the Ballard Street intersection and southbound traffic on Western Avenue will be detoured at the Summer Street intersection.
Signage, police details, and advance message boards will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.
