Cab Driver Eats Gum Drops From Pill Bottle

The following is an excerpt from the Peabody Police log:

Wednesday, Sept. 14

  • At 3:26 p.m. an injured rabbit was reported on Essex Center Drive. The rabbit was transported to a local veterinary hospital.
  • At 4:33 p.m. the State Police called Peabody Police to report an issue with a person in a cab. A cab driver told the State Police, a woman he picked up in Peabody was confused and accusing him of taking pills while driving. Peabody Police found there was a misunderstanding and the driver was eating gum drops out of a prescription pill bottle. Police advised the driver not to put candy in the pill bottle. 
  • At 6:48 p.m. police arrested Lisa M. Moriarty, 45, 125 Bennington St., Lawrence, and charged her with shoplifting by concealing merchandise and on a warrant. Another woman was issued a summons for shoplifting. The arrest was made at

  • At 1:04 a.m. police received a report of a possible box truck with someone operating a drill in the area of Walnut Street. Police found a baker was removing the door of his bakery to get something out of the business.
