According to the U.S. Geologic Survey a magnitude 5.9 earthquake hit Virginia west of Charlottesville at 1:51 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

The quake was felt in Washington D.C., and we've received reports some of you felt it here as well.

Quake Felt In Peabody

According to scanner reports, police were called about the rumbling but no impacts have been seen so far, in Peabody. According to the State Police, they did receive many calls about the earthquake but there have been no injuries as a result.
