Peabody 3-Month Bridge Lane Restriction Starts Tuesday

PEABODY, MA — Three months of one-lane alternating traffic begins on Dearborn Road at the Route 1 overpass in Peabody beginning on Tuesday.

The state Department of Transportation said the lane closures over the on-ramp to Route 1 northbound will last until mid-November.

The lane closures will allow work to continue on the bridge rehabilitation and preservation project. Work will consist of the removal of the pavement and subsequent concrete deck repairs as needed, as well as installation of new bridge pavement, bridge joints, sidewalk repairs and guardrail improvements.

Vehicles traveling on Dearborn Road will encounter a temporary traffic signal while the bridge is
reduced to one lane, allowing alternating traffic through the work area.

This work is part of an $11.4 million bridge rehabilitation project comprised of six individual bridges over I- 95, I- 495 and Route 1 in the towns of Boxford, Merrimac and Peabody.
