Peabody Open Mic Performance Series Coming To Downtown Businesses
Singers, poets, musicians, comedians, authors and storytellers are invited to the rotating open mics on the first Friday of each month.
PEABODY, MA — A collection of Peabody businesses on Main Street are joining forces to bring some new voices to local stages with a rotating Open Mic Night series starting this week.
Create & Escape DIY Studios, Eat Drink Explore Provisions, Granite Coast Brewing and Breaking Grounds Cafe are partners in inviting singers, poets, musicians, comedians, authors and storytellers to perform on the first Friday night of each month starting at 7 p.m.
The recently reopened Breaking Grounds (67 Main Street) will host the first Open Mic on Oct. 6 followed by Create & Escape DIY Studios (71 Main Street) on Nov. 3, EDEX Provisions (50 Main Street) on Dec. 1 and Granite Coast Brewing (50 Main Street) on Jan. 5.

Each business will then host a second open mic with the series set to run through May 3.
"We're so excited to be bringing Open Mic Night back to downtown Peabody," said Create & Escape Studios Owner Wendy Latoff, whose business has been hosting its own open mic nights in recent months and who said she is looking forward to expanding it to neighboring businesses. "It's been incredible to see the talent we have in our community and beyond."

Granite Coast Brewing Marketing and Events Director Amy Luckiewicz said the open mic starting this month will provide an alternative to some of the crowds flocking elsewhere on the North Shore during the Halloween season.
"Kicking this off in October was intentional," she said. "We know not everyone wants to head into Salem this month, and there are so many options here on Main Street for entertainment, food, drinks, shopping and creativity."
Knicki Foss, Business Operation Director of Northeast Arc and Breaking Grounds Café, said she is looking forward to opening the freshly reopened venue to live music.
"Breaking Grounds is super excited to be part of bringing open mic and live music to Main Street," Foss said. "The four venues really offer a great environment for creativity."
