Peabody Route 128 Crash Causes Big Tuesday Backup

The state Department of Transportation said the backup on Route 128 South was about 3 miles approaching Exit 39 as of 3:30 p.m.

PEABODY, MA — The Tuesday afternoon commute got off to a tough start on the North Shore with a crash in Peabody causing a miles-long backup.

The crash at Exit 39 on Route 128 South caused about 3 miles in backups as of 3:30 p.m., according to the state Department of Transportation.

Mass DOT reported the crash was cleared as of about 5:10 p.m. with all lanes clear.
