Peabody Route 128 Highway Closure Set For This Weekend
Lanes will be closed between Exits 39 and 40 on Sunday night into Monday morning along with a temporary overnight full highway closure.
PEABODY - Lane closures will be in effect on Route 128 northbound and southbound in Peabody this weekend to allow for the installation of a new variable messaging structure between Exits 39 and 40.
The state Department of Transportation said the lanes will be taken on a temporary basis between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. The southbound high-speed lane will be closed throughout the installation with all lanes closed for about 20 minutes sometime between midnight and 4 a.m.
Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.

Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
The work is being conducted as part of a $3.1 million project for ITS improvements throughout the Highway Division.
