Peabody Route 128 Lane Closures Set For This Week

The state Department of Transporation said temporary lane closures will be in place Thursday beginning at 8 p.m.

PEABODY, MA — Drivers who take Route 128 are advised to expect lane closures on Thursday night this coming week for the installation of a new message board.

The state Department of Transportation said the temporary closures will take place on Route 128 northbound and southbound between exits 39 and 40A in Peabody.

The closures are set to begin at 8 p.m. on Thursday and run through 5 a.m. on Friday.

The high-speed southbound lane will be closed throughout the work period, while other lanes will be closed in 20-minute intervals between noon and 4 a.m.

The work is being conducted as part of a $3.1 million project for ITS improvements throughout MassDOT Highway District 4.

All work is weather permitting and may change without notice.

Signs and traffic control devices will be used to guide drivers through the work zone. Those traveling through the area should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
