Emergency Peabody Bridge Overnight Work After Tractor-Trailer Strike
The right lane of Route 128 was expected to reopen at 5 p.m. Monday following an inspection with more work scheduled overnight.

UPDATE: 4 p.m.
PEABODY, MA — Overnight work was set to continue on the Route 114 overpass on Route 128 southbound in Peabody after a bridge strike caused a lane closure and emergency inspection on Monday.
The state Department of Transportation said the inspection was completed at about 4 p.m. with the right lane — which had been closed for two hours — scheduled to reopen at about 5.

MassDOT said that "loose concrete" was removed and the protective netting was replaced.
Additional repairs were scheduled for overnight Monday into Tuesday morning.

The state Department of Transportation said at 2 p.m. that the bridge strike occurred at the Route 114 overpass.
The right lane was closed at the start of the Monday afternoon commute while the bridge was undergoing an emergency inspection for safety and any structural damage.
MassDOT advised commuters to expect delays traveling the route southbound through the North Shore.
