Expect Delays: Peabody 5-Month Single-Lane Bridge Project Begins Monday

Traffic will be alternating one-way on Forest Street over Route 95 as part of the project expected to last until December 2023.

PEABODY, MA — Forest Street will become an alternating one-way road over Route 95 beginning Monday morning as part of a bridge rehabilitation and preservation project expected to last until December.

The state Department of Transportation said there will be a temporary traffic signal installed that limits the bridge to one lane — allowing alternating traffic through the work area.

Work will consist of the removal of the pavement and concrete deck repairs. It will also include
the installation of new bridge pavement, bridge joints, sidewalk repairs and guardrail improvements.

Substructure repairs and the cleaning and painting of the bridge will also be done.

This is part of a $11.4 million bridge rehabilitation project that includes six North Shore bridges over Routes 1, 95 and 495.

MassDOT said the Peabody bridge work is expected to last until early December.

Those traveling through the area should expect delays, reduce speed and use caution. Signage and messaging will be in place.
