Richard W. Coombs

Peabody – Richard W. Coombs 92, beloved husband of June A. (Flint) Coombs, died Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by his family.

Born and raised in Lynn, he was the son of the late William Emmett and Helen Coombs. He received his grammar school education in Lynn and graduated from the Henry Ford Boy’s Trade School at Wayside Inn in Sudbury, MA.

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country on the front lines during the Korean War, as a member of the United States Army.

Mr. Coombs had been employed for many years as a manager of customer service for Eastern Tool and Stamping Company in Saugus until the time of his retirement.

A longtime resident of Peabody, Richard adored his family and was loved by all who met him. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, with whom he shared seventy years of marriage, he is survived by two daughters, Debra Vickerman and her husband, Robert of MD and Pamela Delis and her husband, Alexander of Gloucester, a son, Richard A. Coombs and his wife, Cindi of Wrentham, four grandchildren, Stephanie Daniel and her husband, Patrick, Julie Colliton and her husband, Adam, Dr. Zachary Delis, and Amy Blaisdell and her husband, Michael, Miranda Coombs, armloads of great grandchildren and two half-brothers, William and David Emmett. He was predeceased by his grandson, SSG Jeremy W. Coombs, US Army, and by his half-brother, Robert Emmett.

ARRANGMENTS: His funeral service will be held at the Grace United Methodist Church, 374 Broadway, Lynn, Monday, December 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Burial in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. At the request of the family, masks are strongly recommended during visiting hours and church service.
