UPDATE: Majority of Mulch Fire Out; Overnight Details Requested
A two-alarm mulch fire off Farm Avenue led to temporary road closures on routes 128, 95 and 1 Monday afternoon due to smoke causing poor visibility. Majority of the fire was out just after 4:30 p.m.
5:20 p.m. -- Engines started to be released from the scene one-by-one just before 5 p.m. According to radio transmissions from the scene command, the majority of the mulch fire was extinguished around 4:30 p.m.
The department's new aerial platform ladder truck, which was being used at the scene, also ceased operations and would be released for the night. Overnight details were requested to patrol through the site, according to radio transmissions.
A second alarm was struck just before 3 p.m. Peabody Ladder 1 and engines 3, 4, 5 and 7 were all at the scene.

Fire officials have not confirmed yet, but reports and officers near the scene say the fire was at the mulch recycling facility that had a four-alarm blaze in 2010.

3:48 p.m. - The State Police have said all ramps are now open. Cruisers will remain on-scene to assist. Fire companies are still working on the mulch fire.

Ramps on Rt. 95, 1 and 128 are shut down this afternoon due to poor visibility resulting from a two-alarm mulch fire on Farm Avenue.
The fire is emitting dense smoke clouds that are limiting the visibility of the roadway.
The following ramp closures are now taking place:
The ramps to both 95 and 128, from Route 1, (both North and South) at the “Jughandle," are now being closed.
The ramp from 95 South to Route 1 South in Peabody will also be closed.
The Route 95 southbound ramp to Route 128 northbound is still closed
State Police are on-scene and requesting drivers use caution by reducing their speeds and being prepared for traffic delays.
