The holiday season has arrived in Plymouth, bringing twinkling lights, cheerful events and plenty of ways to make memories close to home. From light displays to beloved local traditions, here are the hometown holiday highlights you won’t want to miss.

Gardens Aglow on Cape Cod

When: Select nights from Friday, November 28 to Saturday, December 27 | Entry times: 4:30 PM, 5:45 PM, 6:45 PM

Just a short drive from Plymouth, Gardens Aglow returns with dazzling light displays, festive décor and activities that make the Heritage Museums & Gardens grounds sparkle for the season. Visitors can explore illuminated paths, enjoy seasonal installations and take in the holiday atmosphere throughout the gardens. Tickets must be purchased in advance; the event runs rain, snow or shine.

2025 Hyannis Main Street Holiday Stroll

When: December 5–6, 2025 | Friday: 5–8 PM, Saturday: 10 AM–4 PM
Where: Main Street, Hyannis, MA

Downtown Hyannis transforms for two days of festive entertainment, shopping and holiday cheer during this annual celebration. Guests can browse handcrafted goods, enjoy family-friendly attractions and meet Santa as he arrives on an antique fire truck. The Hyannis Boat Parade caps off the festivities with boats of all sizes glowing in spectacular light displays. Free parking is available at Barnstable Hall and in public lots on South, North and Ocean streets.

Holiday House Tour

When: December 6 | 10 AM–4 PM
Where: Pilgrim Hall Museum, 75 Court Street, Plymouth, MA

Tour a selection of beautifully decorated Plymouth homes and enjoy a festive look inside some of the area’s most charming properties. Admission includes access to the featured homes, a program booklet with descriptions and sweet treats along the way. Reservations are required, with tickets priced at $55 per person or $50 for members.

Jingle All the Way to The Pinehills Village Green

When: December 7 | 11 AM–4 PM
Where: The Pinehills Village Green, Village Green North, Plymouth, MA

This annual Plymouth celebration offers a full afternoon of family-friendly holiday activities. Visitors can enjoy the Mayflower Brewing Winter Beer Garden, Book Love’s Holiday Farmers Market, Santa at The Pinehills Post Office and the 19th annual Reindog Parade. Carolers, face painting, a petting zoo and shopping at Village Green businesses add to the seasonal fun.

Make Your Own Wrapping Paper

When: December 13 | 2:30 PM
Where: Adults Craft Room, Plymouth Public Library, 132 South Street, Plymouth, MA

Looking for a greener way to wrap your gifts this holiday season? The Plymouth Public Library is hosting a Make Your Own Wrapping Paper session, with all recycled paper and craft supplies included. This event is open to all ages, and no registration is required.

Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra – Hometown Holiday

When: December 13 (3 PM and 7:30 PM) and December 14 (1 PM and 5 PM)
Where: Plymouth Memorial Hall, 83 Court Street, Plymouth, MA

The Plymouth Philharmonic presents a festive program of holiday favorites, including a live musical tribute to A Charlie Brown Christmas in honor of its 60th anniversary. Audiences can also enjoy the annual March of the Toys community parade and a visit from St. Nick during the performances. Tickets range from $35 to $150 and tend to sell quickly during the holiday season.

The Polar Express Train Ride

Where: Cape Cod Central Railroad, 70 Main St, Buzzards Bay, MA
The Polar Express Train Ride in nearby Buzzards Bay brings the beloved Christmas story to life with music from the film, dancing chefs, hot chocolate and shortbread cookies. Each guest receives a golden ticket, and children are greeted by Santa and given a sleigh bell upon arrival at the North Pole. Tickets must be purchased in advance; plan to arrive 45–60 minutes early due to parking and boarding timelines.
