Carlos A.F. Da Silva, Democratic Candidate For Plymouth County Commissioner on the September 6th Primary is Against the Horse Racing/Casino.

PLYMOUTH, MA -
Carlos A.F. Da Silva, Democratic Candidate For Plymouth County Commissioner on the September 6th Primary
Da Silva has been steadfast in his opposition to the plan by Boston South Real Estate Group,
LLC, and the current County Commission, to build a horse track or casino on the County
Woodlot in Plymouth. He is the only candidate in the race to publicly take a stand against the
proposal last spring, prior to its defeat by an 88% to 12% margin in the Plymouth Town Election
in May.
"Here in Plymouth County, we must have a local conversation about integrity, transparency,
and the environment when we consider the proposed horse racing track in Plymouth County. Let
me be clear: I oppose the development of this racetrack in Plymouth, and I am disappointed, but
not surprised, at how the Plymouth County Commissioners have approached this issue," said Da
Silva.

"This racetrack is an ill-conceived plan that the citizens of Plymouth have been shut out of by the
County Commissioners; it has the potential for being both environmentally and economically
harmful." continued Da Silva.
"I can assure the citizens of Plymouth and Plymouth County that as your Commissioner, I will
seek out community input, be transparent, and act in your best interest in these decisions."
Da Silva, who works as an auditor for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and
Workforce Development/Department of Unemployment Assistance, resides in Hingham with his
wife and their two children.
Carlos A.F. Da Silva is a duly appointed member of Hingham's Climate Action Planning
Committee, is an elected and active member of the Massachusetts Democratic State Committee
and a former chairman of both the Hingham and Quincy Ward 2 Democratic Committees. He
was also elected to the Hingham School Committee in 2016 and 2019; he did not seek re-
election in 2022 so that he could devote his time to the race for Plymouth County
Commissioner.
